Summer Board Meeting at Lakenheath Fen Reserve

The summer Board meeting of the BFER Landscaper Partnership was held at RSPB Lakenheath Fen this week

Hosted by the RSPB, the BFER board gathered at Lakenheath Fen this week to review the Scheme’s delivery progress, and discuss some of the issues and successes from the 2nd quarter of the year. High on the list of subjects was the ongoing Brecks Options Study, which is engaging with partners and stakeholders to develop a legacy of ongoing collaboration and partnership working on support of Brecks’ heritage and landscape post BFER. In an update on staffing for the scheme, the board thanked Tom Juggins, BFER Project Support Officer for all his hard work and contributions to the Scheme in advance of his leaving the post at the end of August.

The meeting was followed by a tour of Lakenheath Fen by Reserve Manager Dave Rogers, which gave everyone an opportunity to see the new mobility access ramps funded by BFER, and find out more about the site. Highlights of the walk also included getting a close up sight of a Kingfisher, and hearing Bearded Tits calling from the reeds!
