The Breckland Society hosted the first BFER River Raiders seminar on the 30th September. Watched by more than 85 people, the ‘Zoom’ presentation by DR Richard Hoggett was a great success. Fascinating maps, images and insights into the Brecks’ archaeological heritage gave participants a new understanding of how important the Brecks – and it’s rivers, were to the Vikings at that time. As part of the Project, volunteers are being sought to take part in archive research and other investigations in the Brecks to further develop our understanding of River Raiders on the Brecks. Feedback included comments such as: Wow! Really interesting. Thanks a mil! (Kathleen), It is good to get a structure to pin individual facts on to (Stephen H), Absolutely first class session (Jean H).
The next instalment will take place on Zoom on the 21st October. Sign up here to take part in the River Raiders: Reading the Anglo-Saxon and Viking Landscape Seminar
