Showcasing the river research and stories collected over the last five years.
Imogen Radford, lead for the Tales from the River Project, has been touring around the Brecks giving talks on the research and memories she has collected over the last five years. On the 21st of January, she was at Ancient House Museum in Thetford and one of the BFER team was able to escape the office and attend. Here is what they had to say:
Imogen brought a wealth of knowledge about the area’s past, weaving together historical facts and compelling narratives on local river history over the past 100 years, to create a vivid picture of the Brecks rivers. Alongside photos and stories, it provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the region’s heritage and delved into the rich stories tied to the River Thet and the surrounding areas. It helped illustrate how the river has shaped the lives of those living in and around the Brecks. Sharing personal anecdotes from local folk and using visual material to showcase the changes in the landscape over the last 100 years, she brought river history to life.
One of Imogen’s talks was online and there is a recording available on our website. You can take a look at it here: Tales from the River – Illustrated Talk
