Partnership with MIND for Mental Health

A new series of workshops at Thompson Common for MIND service users.

As part of their mission to connect local people with their nearby nature reserves, Norfolk Wildlife Trust has built a partnership with MIND to offer guided walks and workshops at NWT Reserve Thompson Common. At the end of 2023, representatives from Norfolk and Waveney MIND visited Thompson with NWT Wilder Learning Manager, and booked two workshops for 2024. MIND regularly offer walks to green spaces for their service users, but had not been aware of Thompson Common and Water before NWT reached out.

Both adult workshops have been really successful, with really positive feedback from attendees. Norfolk Wildlife Trust said, “we have since held some open day events to create an opportunity for visitors to explore the site in a deeper way and it has been fantastic to see some attendees from the MIND workshops attend these too. The adult workshops and open day sessions have been overwhelmingly positive, with people often expressing their surprise and delight at exploring a new and special site.”

The leader of the MIND group has said they hope to continue working with NWT in the future.

Here is some feedback from workshop attendees when asked if they would return to the site:

“Definitely – didn’t know it was here and lots more to explore!”

“Yes – will be back with family and children”

“It’s wonderful and there’s so much more to see and learn”

“Yes I will return with my husband”
