Fungi in Thetford!

BFER Events and Activities Volunteer Bob shares his photographs from our autumnal ‘Fungi, Fruits, and Seeds’ events in Thetford.

Fungi in Thetford!

Yesterday, two groups of participants braved the drizzly weather to take part in enjoyable autumnal ambles along Thetford’s riversides. The walks were hosted by BFER as part of the 2023 Walk Norfolk Festival, a county wide accessible outdoor festival organised by Pathmakers. During the walk, participants were guided by foraging and wildlife enthusiast, Jon Tyler (of Wild for Woods). Exploring the riversides of Thetford’s two rivers, the Little Ouse and the Thet, an array of fungi was found, in addition to a range of interesting plants. The walks ended with a warming cup of tea made from natural foraged items.

Thank you very much to our Events and Activities Volunteer Bob for his help on the afternoon walk, and for sharing these photographs! If you would like to support our events and activities as a Volunteer, we would love to hear from you! Find out more on our Volunteer Hub.
