Fieldwalking Training Begins

Our first cohort of volunteers have been trained in how to survey a site without the need to dig or use fancy equipment!

Our first fieldwalking training event has taken place, with over 30 volunteers taking part in a two day walk of an area at Lackford Lakes. Volunteers were trained in what to spot on the surface that might be of archaeological interest and, once the fieldwalk had taken place, how to wash and identify the finds. The full report of the finds is being written up by Cotswold Archaeology so watch this space for all the details!

If you are interested in taking part next year for our archaeology volunteer training sessions then please email: BFER.admin@suffolk.gov.uk
