Buckenham Tofts conservation workshop

Volunteers from the Breckland Society joined a heritage skills and conservation workshop at Buckenham Tofts Mill.

Volunteers from the Breckland Society joined a heritage skills and conservation workshop at Buckenham Tofts Mill. The volunteers are working towards the BFER project, Industrious Rivers, exploring the history of trade and development along the rivers of the Brecks by documenting historical structures. This workshop was the second of the project’s heritage skills and conservation workshops, and was hosted with inputs from millwright, Peter Goulding, as well as Historic Environment Advisor, Krysia Truscoe. The workshop was additionally supported by the eastern region of Forestry England, and James Parry, author of the BNG Great Estates trail.

During the workshop, which was held at the site of Buckenham Tofts Mill (on the River Wissey), volunteers took part in vegetation clearance to help improve visibility of the historic structures and slow scrub encroachment.
