Bringing Breckland In – Raleigh & Admirals Academy

Another BFER 3rd party grant finds a home! Following their successful funding application for one of our 3rd party grants, Raleigh Infant & Admirals Academies have launched their Bringing Breckland In project.

Mia Witham delivered an assembly to the pupils from Years 3 to 6, where she shared project plans to transform a disused playground area into a Breckland green-scape. The project will see the children taking ownership of the transformation, creating wildlife areas, therapeutic islands, dipping ponds, calm seating zones, a dry heathland area and a shady woodland. Once created, the green-scape will be accessible to 360 pupils, the parent community and school staff.

As planting season begins, the first group worked with Mia to plant trees for the new boundary.

The BFER team was delighted to visit, where the children showed off their newly planted (and named!) trees and we presented the cheque for £2500 towards this fabulous project.

Executive Principal, Greg Sadler, said:

“we are thrilled to receive this funding as it will now allow us to deliver our ‘Bringing Breckland in’ project where we will be able develop our Breckland ‘Greenscape’ promoting outdoor, local learning and well-being.  The community-based project will see our pupils work with a variety of organisations in transforming an area of the children’s play space to something that will be unique and bespoke to both Raleigh and Admirals Academies. “

We look forward to visiting again in the Spring, Summer and Autumn next year to watch this garden grow!
