Nick has a background in landscape management and a great interest in all things ‘heritage’ from natural history to archaeology and landscape history. He spent a number of years managing Suffolk County Council’s portfolio of Countryside sites, and the Brecks’ Breaking New Ground Landscape Partnership Scheme before helping to develop the Brecks Fen Edge and Rivers Landscape Partnership (BFER) bid and, originally, overseeing the project as Scheme Manager. Nick’s hobbies (currently) include green woodworking, gardening, sea fishing, beekeeping, walking, and cycling.
Meet the Team
Nick Dickson - Natural Environment Manager (Suffolk County Council)
Nicole Wade - Project Manager
Nicole has a background in arts and heritage, with a breadth of experience working with museums, galleries, and archives to engage and inspire people through education, outreach and volunteering opportunities. Nicole worked for several years with Norfolk County Council, with Norfolk Museums Service, and latterly at Norfolk Record Office as part of the delivery team for the East of England hub of a national NLHF supported sound heritage project.
Nicole joined the BFER team as Volunteer and Engagement Officer in 2022, and became Project Manager in 2024, developing the successful bid for the Resilience Project in 2025. Through her work with the landscape partnerships, she has loved the journey of discovering the details of the Brecks, from its fascinating hidden heritage to its unique and rare habitats, and its tranquil and beautiful landscapes. Nicole is passionate about supporting others, locally, regionally, and nationally, to discover the magic of the Brecks for themselves, and ensure a lasting legacy for the breadth of work that has been achieved through the landscape partnerships.
In her spare time, Nicole enjoys arts and crafts, attempting to grow vegetables in her garden, and exploring the countryside on foot or in her canoe.
Tracy Harrison - Project Officer
Tracy has a background in education, working with a wide range of delivery partners, diverse audiences in and with education settings over the past 30 years. She has worked in several local authorities in Kent, South East London and Norfolk, in schools, colleges, and in early years settings
She moved from Kent to live in The Brecks in the Summer of 2021 and is enjoying all that the slower life has to offer including working three days a week for BFER initially, now one day a week for the Resilience Project. Passionate about making a positive difference to heritage, and for communities in the Brecks to celebrate its diverse landscape and history, she is able to apply her experience and support the team in the delivery of the projects to leave a legacy for the partnership.
Jude Clay – Volunteer and Engagement Officer
Jude moved to the Brecks in the Spring of 2022 and quickly got to know the landscape by volunteering as a blogger for BFER. She joined the team as Project Support Officer in 2023, became Volunteer and Engagement Officer in 2024 and Engagement Officer for the Resilience Project in 2025.
Two of her favourite things are being outside and writing, so engaging with people in a Landscape Partnership suits her down to the sandy, Brecks ground. When she’s not talking to people, or writing about, the Brecks, you can find her walking in it with her springer spaniel or cooking something experimental at home.
