Watery Wildlife Discovery Day

Celebrate the beauty of the Brecks at this exciting open day at Lackford Lakes. You’ll have the chance to learn about the bird species that call the lakes their home and how to identify them on a guided walk. Bring your family and enjoy a range of activities, including exploring the world of invertebrates through a microscopic view. You can also learn about our volunteering opportunities and discover how you can make a positive impact on nature in your local community and at home.

– Guided bird walk at 10.30am (must be booked) kindly funded by the Brecks Fen Edge and Rivers Landscape Partnership Scheme supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
– Minibeast hunting and viewing under the microscopes
– Wooden tag pledge making
– Games and more!

– Optional hedgehog home making (Please note that there is a fee of £12 per house)

Accessibility: Activities will take place at the Lackford Lakes visitor centre. The guided walk will be a gentle slow walk along footpaths. If you have any questions or concerns about accessibility, please contact Lackford Lakes via: lackford.engagement@suffolkwildlifetrust.org

 Transport: The closest bus stop is ‘Bus Shelter’ located in Lackford village, approximately 15 minutes walk to the Lackford Lakes visitor centre (please note this route includes off road surfaces). To find out more details including timetables, visit bustimes.org.

On-site parking is available (parking charges may apply).

What to wear and bring: Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather, including layers and wet weather wear, or sun protection. Sturdy closed toe footwear or wellies are recommended.
