Thetford’s Riverside Heritage. From Roman roads to Viking invasion, coffee mills to public lidos, the rivers in Thetford hold many stories. Beginning at the ruins of the Priory of Our Lady of Thetford, this guided walk will take you along scenic riverside pathways. Explore the history of the town, including Spring Walks, the ancient trackway of Nun’s Bridges, and the site of the medieval Thetford Castle.
This walk is hosted by the Brecks Fen Edge and Rivers Landscape partnership scheme, and made possible with the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This walk is as part of Walk Norfolk 2022, an accessible walking festival delivered by Pathmakers. Pathmakers is a charity dedicated to improving access to the Norfolk Countryside for people of all abilities and backgrounds.
