Thetford’s River Tales

Work and Play – Thetford Riverside

On this walk you will follow the two rivers that run through Thetford, the river Thet and the river Little Ouse. We will have activities along the walk for all of the family, and will hear stories about having fun in the rivers – swimming, boating and fishing – as well as seeing buildings from Thetford’s industrial past where they survive.

The walk will start by the former Thetford Coffee Mill, and follow the river along the leafy Spring Walk to the historic Nuns Bridges, and the old outdoor River Swimming Baths. The walk will then return past wartime relics and the former Pulp ware Mill.

This walk is being hosted by BFER in collaboration with Pathmakers for the Walk Norfolk Festival 2023. Pathmakers is an accessible walking charity based in Norfolk, who launched the Walk Norfolk Festival, an annual autumn walking festival, in 2022.
