Thetford River 2K/5K Walk & Run
Whether a walker or runner, all are welcome to join this family friendly community event to enjoy Thetford’s tranquil riverside. Starting at Thetford Riverside green, you will follow the river path to reach Kingfisher Lakes, before heading back in a 2 kilometre loop. For those wishing for a longer loop, the route will continue along the river to the historic site of Nun’s Bridges, before looping back in a 5 kilometre circuit. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, from ducks and geese to kingfishers, storks, fish and maybe even an otter.
The start and finish line will be at Thetford Riverside green, where there will be gazebos, parasols, and space for a picnic (free sandwiches and drinks will be provided for participants and volunteers). Bring a chair or picnic blanket and stay a while to socialise, and learn more about Run Breckland, BFER, and Brecks community groups at a range of information stalls.
This event will take place during Volunteer Week, a national celebration of volunteering. As a thank you to the wonderful volunteers that support Run Breckland, and the BFER project, volunteers can take part free of charge, as our way of saying thank you.
