Thetford Creative Carnival
Join BFER at the Thetford Creative Carnival for storytelling, face painting, and a trail of magical mini nature doors.
Thetford Creative Carnival is a three day event in the heart of Thetford, Norfolk, celebrating writing, art, theatre, and books. Throughout the weekend, there will be workshops and activities taking place across the town, including writers workshops, children’s theatre, dinner with an author, community art projects and lots more.
The first day of the festival will kick off on Friday 12th August with a river theme. Visit the BFER team on Butten Island, Thetford, where we will be hosting a trail of Little Ouse Little Doors.
Little Ouse Little Doors was a BFER supported project with local primary school, The Bishops CE Primary Academy. During the project, the Year 3 pupils took part in two creative workshops, in which they worked with a local artist and a story teller to learn about river wildlife. The children discovered the wildlife found in their local river, the Little Ouse, and learnt about the negative effects that litter has on this natural habitat. The children each chose and animal or insect, for which they designed a Little Ouse Little Door, and wrote stories about the wildlife and the impact of littering.
The Little Ouse Little doors will be on display in the form of a trail around Butten Island, Friday 12th August 10am-4.30pm
There will also be story telling, performances from the Thetford Writing Group, and Face painting, as well as a performance of Wind in the Willows in the Guildhall (booking required).
