Tales from Mildenhall’s River: River History Walk

The walk will begin at the large recreational ground of Jubilee Fields, crossing the River Lark on the footbridge next to the scenic Norah Hanbury-Kelk Meadows nature reserve. We will then follow the river as it winds its way along, passing the historical Gas Pool sluice and Bridge Mill. We will then cross the newly restored footbridge to follow the river past the cricket club and along to the site of another old staunch, before returning past St Marys Church and through Mildenhall town to the starting point.

This walk is part of a series of three River History Walks taking place in Autumn 2023.

This walk will be led by Imogen Radford. Imogen is the project lead for Tales from the River, a BFER project uncovering a wide range of local stories about the Brecks Fen Edge and rivers including oral histories, myths and legends. Find out more HERE
