Make the most of the natural materials available alongside the river to collect, make, and take away your own crafting-creations. Take a short walk to explore and gather natural materials, then have a go at making a variety of wild crafts including; mini-boats, rafts, badges and willow.

At this event, you will join wild-crafter Jon Tyler to explore the scenic riverside of the River Lark, at West Stow Country Park. You will be guided to explore the plants found along the riverside, learn about their natural properties, and discover a variety of wild craft techniques to turn natural items into amazing creations.

  • The workshop will take place from 10.30am-12.30pm, and be repeated at 1:30pm-3.30pm

          AM Workshop: 10.30am – 12.30pm

          PM Workshop: 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Key Information:

  • Age: 5 years+ (all children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop)
  • Cost: £5 per adult, children under 16 free of charge. Booking Essential as spaces are limited. (The cost of this event is heavily subsidised due to the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, who support the Brecks Fen Edge and Rivers Landscape partnership scheme to facilitate inclusive engagement opportunities).
  • Location: West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village & Country Park, Icklingham Road, West Stow, Suffolk , IP28 6HG
  • Meet at the West Stow visitor centre (What Three Words: w3w.co/reactions.flattery.dive)
  • All materials and equipment will be provided
  • Parking fee: £3 for the day
  • Workshop excludes admission to the Anglo-Saxon Village
  • Please note that this workshop will take place outdoors, and will include a short walk through West Stow Country Park, where there is a variety of terrain. Please wear suitable footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather.
  • Please do not bring dogs
