Natural Dyeing Workshop

Join West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village for a beginner’s taster day where you can try your hand at natural dyeing using plants!

During this workshop, you will discover how the Anglo-Saxons dyed their cloth and the colours they used. Taking place in surrounds of the historical West Stow Anglo-Saxon village, this immersive atmospheric workshop will transport you back in time through heritage craft skills. Experiment with natural dyeing using plants to make your very own dyed samples to take home!

West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village is a reconstruction of eight Anglo-Saxon style buildings. It is built on the site of an early Anglo-Saxon village, which was occupied from AD 420-650, over 400 years before the Norman Conquest. Built in 1977, the reconstruction brings to life the rich heritage of the site, allowing us to envisage what life was like for the Anglo-Saxons that once occupied the area.
