Join Run Breckland for a family-friendly day by the river, with two running route options.
Meeting on Jubilee Fields where both runs will start, there’ll be fun and games (a ball pond, play tent, swing ball, skittles etc) gazebos, and space for a picnic if you fancy bringing an apres-run lunch (free cold drinks provided).
Both routes give runners the opportunity to spot wildlife around the river, from the every day swans, ducks and geese, to the occasional splash of a fish, but also kingfishers and maybe even an otter!
The 5K route explores the River Lark footpath from Jubilee Fields to Barton Mills, then loops through the village back to the start following part of the Barton Mills Millennium Walk. There are a few minor roads to cross on the 5K route, and it uses a mixture of paved and off road paths. The 5K is suitable for all ages, including the use of single buggies but, because we are following the river, any child under 16 years of age must always be kept within arm’s length of an adult.
The 2K route is one lap of Jubilee Fields, and then over the bridge and through the Nature Reserve before returning back the same way. It’s ideal for children as there are no roads, but we’d encourage adults to run with them if they’re nervous (accompanying adults can just turn up and run, free of charge, as long as they don’t want a medal!).
There‘ll be a medal for all finishers of both the 2K and the 5K.
If an adult is taking part simply to accompany an under 16 and does not want a medal, running number or time, you can take part free of charge. Simply book your junior runner(s) in, then turn up on the day. If the accompanying adult wants their own bling, please also sign up.
