Earth Heritage Safari

Join this fascinating guided walk at Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve and discover the evolution of the local landscape over the past half-million years. Guided by local geological specialist, Tim Holt-Wilson, you will explore multiple points of interest to uncover links between geology, soils, landforms and wildlife.

You will see evidence for a now-vanished river and two ice sheets, and uncover the story of how the landscape evolved during the last cold period 15,000 years ago.

Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve is a fantastic Brecks habitat, managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust. The site is an ancient landscape of lowland heath, grassland and woodland that has changed little since the Anglo-Saxon age.
