Discover the nocturnal nightlife of Knettishall Heath with bat expert, Lindsey Bilston.
Dusk to Dark Bat Walk
On this guided walk, you will explore the twilight world of Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve with guide, Lindsey Bilston (of the Norfolk and Norwich Bat Group).
Knettishall Heath is a thriving Brecks habitat, situated alongside the river Little Ouse. Explore the reserve after hours, learn about bats and their habitats, and use bat detectors to listen out for and identify any that are present.
This is an outdoor event. Please wrap up warm and wear sturdy footwear. Please be prepared to journey mainly in the dark (head torches will be provided).

When: Friday 25th August
Where: Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve, IP22 2TQ
Time: 7:45pm – 9:30pm (Please arrive ready for a 7:45pm start. The event will begin with an introduction on bats and using bat detectors. You will then walk as a group into the Reserve. The walk will be approximately 75 minutes and will be at a slow pace with multiple pause points.
Cost: Free of charge with thanks to the support of National Lottery Heritage Fund via the Brecks Fen Edge and Rivers landscape partnership scheme.

Parking: Parking is available in the main Knettishall Heath visitor car park. Please note that there is a parking charge of £3 per car. This event will take place outside of the opening hours of Knettishall Heath, with thanks to Suffolk Wildlife Trust. You will be asked to provide your vehicle registration when booking.

Distance: 1 – 2 miles
What to bring/wear: This is an outdoor event and will take place mainly in the dark. Head torches and high vis jackets will be provided. Please wrap up warm and wear sturdy footwear.
Terrain: Knettishall Heath has a variety of terrain, and may be uneven under foot.
Age: This event is suitable for ages 7 years+ (all children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event)
