Brecks Fen Edge & Rivers presents their Archaeology: Geophysics Training courses!
Course 1: Tuesday 19th-Friday 22nd October, 10.00am – 3.00pm; Course 2: Tuesday 26th-Friday 29th October, 10.00am – 3.00pm.
As part of the Brecks’ Fen Edge & Rivers Landscape Partnership Scheme, Suffolk County Council Archaeology Service and Cotswold Archaeology will deliver two 4-day volunteer training courses in the non-intrusive archaeological survey technique of geophysical surveying.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in some hands-on history, exploring what lies hidden beneath our feet. Geophysics allows us to build up a picture of the past landscape, detecting archaeological features below ground. You do not need to have any previous experience, just an interest in archaeology and history. Each on-site geophysical survey training session lasts four days, Tuesday 19th-Friday 22nd and Tuesday 26th-Friday 29th October. 10.00am – 3.00pm.
Location: West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village and Country Park (Icklingham Road, West Stow, Suffolk, IP28 6HG – N.B. West Stow is not accessible by public transport). Free parking passes will be provided for participants.
Required skills and abilities: You will not require any specialist skills/knowledge but should expect to be walking, over often uneven ground, and on your feet throughout the day. These sessions are intended for participant aged 18+. If you have any questions, please contact bfer.admin@suffolk.gov.uk
For more information contact bfer.admin@suffolk.gov.uk or visit: https://brecks.org/bfer/projects/working-waters-heritage-skills-for-the-future/3-2-fen-edge-rivers-archaeology/
