 | | | | What are the Benefits of being a member of the Brecks Tourism Partnership?
In 2007, we worked with 253 businesses such as hotels, Bed & Breakfast accommodation providers, self-catering accommodation, camping and caravanning sites as well as attractions, local producers and local artists. We like to develop working relationships with local businesses and give them opportunities to work with each other.
The partnership has been involved in many activities of benefit to tourism businesses since its establishment in 1999. Below are some examples of these:
We annually produce a visitor destination brochure, Come Alive in the Brecks, and distribute at least 85,000 copies nationwide.
We organise Brecks Awareness Days for businesses to enhance their knowledge of the area and why it is such a fantastic visitor destination.
We organise Local Produce Taster Days to be hosted at local attractions.
We have developed itineraries and packs of trails. For example CAReFREE exploration, Biking And Brewing, Riding in The Brecks.
The partnership is also passionate about working to:
• Gain recognition for The Brecks as a distinctive area with a strong positive identity and a unique natural and cultural heritage, which deserves to be protected.
• Inform, inspire and educate visitors to The Brecks.
• Support businesses to adopt a green and sustainable approach for their benefit and the benefit of their visitors.
• Encourage the involvement of local communities in the development of sustainable tourism.
• Seek opportunities to support environmental projects through the membership payback scheme.
The partnership is steered by a group of representatives from tourism businesses supported by local authorities and relevant organisations involved with tourism. The group meets regularly and leads on actions that will benefit the communities and businesses involved in sustainable tourism in The Brecks.
Membership of the Partnership offers real value for money for businesses and organisations with an interest in tourism within the unique Brecks area.

“I think the Brecks Tourism Partnership has provided the tourist office with some excellent publications. “…we were lucky enough to be one of the businesses sponsored by the Brecks Tourism Partnership to participate in the Green Tourism Scheme Award. We were delighted to earn a Gold Award…” Miriam and Trevor Thomas, Manor Farm, Great Hockham
*Sustainable tourism is defined as ‘tourism development formed in consultation with local communities, businesses and other stakeholders. It aims to allow tourism to develop in a way that is fair and equitable for host communities. It is economically sustainable in the long term, and avoids damage to tourism attractions or the physical environment.
