Rivers and Ponds contain a wealth of wildlife, the following are Joint Nature Conservancy Council (JNCC) Biodiversity Action Plan species that are found in the Brecks, click on the links for more information

Anisus vorticulus – a freshwater snail
Segmentina nitida – Shining ram’s horn snail
Vertigo angustior – Narrow-mouth whorl snail
Vertigo moulinsiana – Desmoulin’s whorl snail
Lophopus crystallinus – a freshwater bryozoan
Austropotamobious pallipes - White-clawed crayfish

Brecks Biodiversity Audit

The Breckland Biodiversity Audit is a collaborative project, led by UEA in partnership with Norfolk Biodiversity Information Service (NBIS), Suffolk Biological Records Centre (SBRC), the Norfolk and Suffolk Biodiversity Partnerships, the Forestry Commission, PlantLife, and Natural England, commissioned in July 2009.
